In my third year of undergrad, I joined a datathon just to give it a try, and I ended up really enjoying the technical challenges. The datathon helped me realize I could combine my domain knowledge with technical know-how to work in a career that both interested and challenged me. I continued to stay involved in data science clubs and activities for the rest of my undergrad, growing my interest and understanding of job possibilities in data science.
About Victoria Farkas
Before MDS, Victoria had just completed her Bachelor’s from UBC in Behavioural Neuroscience and was working as a data manager for Population Data BC. Victoria wanted to formalize and expand on her technical knowledge so she applied to the MDS program to get herself career-ready as quickly and effectively as possible, so the 10-month accelerated format was perfect for her. Away from MDS, Victoria is a dancer and also enjoys baking or building little arts and crafts projects. Read Victoria’s story.
