Welcome the MDS Class of 2023
This month we welcomed the latest cohorts of the MDS Vancouver, MDS Okanagan and MDS Computational Linguistics program. Unlike last year where we welcomed them virtually, this year it was a pleasure to see all of them in-person.
Let us meet the latest crop of MDS Vancouver, Okanagan and MDS Computational Linguistics students.
MDS Vancouver Cohort Seven
- 84 new students
- This year's cohort is comprised of students from Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Ethiopia, China, Iran, Hong Kong, China, India, Mexico, Serbia, Thailand, and the United States.
- 33% identify as female.
- Academic backgrounds include animal science, psychology, civil engineering, computer science, applied physics, biomedical sciences and education.
- Prior to joining the MDS program, 28 of our students have completed another advanced degree (Master’s, PhD).
- 36% of the class of 2023 enter the program with 3+ years of work experience.
MDS Okanagan Cohort Five
- 30 new students
- This year's cohort is comprised of students from Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India and Taiwan
- 57% identify as female.
- Academic backgrounds include computer science, data science, engineering (civil, computer science, electrical, mechanical), business administration, accounting, risk management, international business, psychology, biology
- Prior to joining the MDS program, 6 of our students have completed another advanced degree (Master’s, PhD).
- 40% of the class of 2023 enter the program with 3+ years of work experience.
MDS Computational Linguistics Cohort Four
- 36 new students
- This year's cohort is comprised of students from Australia, Iran, Republic of Korea, China, India, Philippines, and the United States.
- 47% identify as female.
- Academic backgrounds include linguistics, English literature, law, statistics, commerce, computer science and electrical engineering.
- This year's cohort speaks 11 languages like Farsi, Filipino, Punjabi, Hindi, English, French, Korean, Tamil, and Mandarin
- Prior to joining the MDS program, 5 of our students have completed another advanced degree (Master’s, PhD).
- 33% of the class of 2023 enter the program with 3+ years of work experience.
