Welcome the MDS Class of 2024
Earlier this month, the latest cohorts of MDS Vancouver and Computational Linguistics gathered at Sage Restaurant on UBC's Point Grey campus while the latest cohort of MDS Okanagan met up at the UBC Okanagan campus for various orientation events. Orientation was a chance for the latest group of MDS students to get to know each other and faculty and staff as well as the MDS program itself.
Let us meet the MDS Class of 2024.
MDS Vancouver
- 91 new students
- This year's cohort is comprised of students from El Salvador, Honduras, Iran, Switzerland and Thailand
- 43% identify as female.
- Academic backgrounds include chemistry, political science, and epidemiology
- Prior to joining the MDS program, 33 of our students have completed another advanced degree (Master’s, PhD).
- 45% of the class of 2024 enter the program with 3+ years of work experience.
MDS Okanagan
- 41 new students
- This year's cohort is comprised of students from China, India, Indonesia, and Taiwan
- 44% identify as female.
- Academic backgrounds include clinical pharmacy, food science and economics
- Prior to joining the MDS program, 14 of our students have completed another advanced degree (Master’s, PhD).
- 34% of the class of 2024 enter the program with 3+ years of work experience.
MDS Computational Linguistics
- 36 new students
- This year's cohort is comprised of students from Singapore, Vietnam, and Hong Kong
- 44% identify as female.
- Academic backgrounds include linguistics, comparative literature and physics
- This year's cohort is fluent in 9 languages like Cantonese, English, Hindi, Spanish, and Malayalam
- Prior to joining the MDS program, 9 of our students have completed another advanced degree (Master’s, PhD).
- 42% of the class of 2024 enter the program with 3+ years of work experience.
